History

Ganbaro vzw is an organisation that strives to make Asian culture, and specifically Japanese culture, more known to people in Flanders. There first was a heavy focus on anime- and mangaculture, but this has expanded to modern (pop) culture as well as the traditional culture. Our goal is to give the spotlight to these things by organising events, exhibitions, workshops, … Besides that the vzw is also present at other events to reach this goal.

Atsusacon is a yearly convention that’s been taking place since 2011. This event is organised by Ganbaro vzw, started by Vincent Peerlinck, Jonathan Oppeel, Rob Loots and Timothy Hossfeld. The first editions took place in Antwerp Expo, after which the convention moved to Ghent ICC.
